Claims Macro 1:2 on the casing. This is like a big brother to the Industar 61 L/Z from the same factory. This lens is considerably larger, and focuses closer. It proudly claims it’s Macro 1:2 ratio on the casing. Otherwise the construction appears to be pretty much the same, down to the “unusual” iris blades that can generate caracteristics “twirly” bokeh.
It shares it’s handy apperture preset “clutch” with the Mir 1B and the Industar 61.

Unlike its siblings, the Volna-9 is quite sharp and well defining even at wide open. The deeply set front element means there’s really little need for any Hood even under challenging lighting condition. Further to that, the lens do seems to render color in a more neutral manner when compared to the Industars and Helios.
