Lens category Short Telephoto Vendor name Carl Zeiss Jena Type name Biometar Focal min (mm) 80 Focal max (mm) 80 Focus min (cm) 80 Aperture max 2.8 Aperture min 22 Filter size (mm) 49

The M42 version of the Biometar 80 is a remounted Pre-set version of the early P6 mount medium format lens with simple coating in an alloy mount. There were no known later ( Black Zebra or MC ) version of the lens in M42, presumably one can easily adept the Medium format lens to any 35mm body with the appropiate Lens/body adepter
The 2,8/80 Biometar was developed in 1948. Mounted for Kine Exakta, then Contax (M42) and Rolleiflex. In 1956 the version for other medium format cameras (Praktisix…) as a new version was computed. KR
