Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 55mm f/1.4-16.0

The CZJ Pancolar 55/1.4 can almost termed a hybrid design as the optical layout comprise of a very thick negative pair doublet which is almost Sonnar fashion and the rear negative quite faithful to the original planar design. The Pancolar 55/1,4 was made for the Pentacon Super camera, made by Pentacon Dresden. Together with this camera, it allowed a TTL light metering with open diaphragm. The selected diaphragm setting was transfered mechanically to the camera by a second pin. When using this lens on another M42 camera, the lens has to be switched to a setting, where this pin is retracted (see the added pics). The Pancolar has a very yellowish coating, which may cause some problems when using slide film. For the use on DSLR cameras, a manual white balance should be used.
