In low light conditions, this SMC Takumar still makes a decent 135mm, since it yields sharp images even wide open. A tad smaller and lighter than its greater counterpart (f/2.5), it largely deserves the reputation of quality associated to the Takumar series. A good inexpensive 135.

This was taken when I got my extention tubes for M42. It was a water bottle, sitting on my windowsill untouched for days. Air bubbles came out of solution and settled on the inside. Upon closer inspection one can actually see more water condensing inside these air bubbles. The color comes from the green grass and the brick buildings outside my window at college.

I used all 3 extension tubes behind the lens, making it focus much closer than normal. The lens in itself is just a joy to hold, the finish is beautiful, the size, weight, are all amazing. To top that, it is an excellent performer given enough light (since only f/3.5). This lens goes for almost nothing in 2005 on eBay…I don’t know why. It’s fantastic.
